President Trump to this day maintains that he has virtually zero business interests in Russia. As recently as last week, Trump fired off another angry tweet asserting this much. He even double-dared investigators by saying “nobody has shown proof of collusion with the Russians.”
Well, that proof may have just come out. It has just been discovered that Russia granted approvals for six trademarks for Mr. Trump – all in 2016. The Trump Organization requested the trademark extensions from Rospatent, the Russian government agency in charge of intellectual property.
Here’s the other funny thing – four of the approvals were officially registered on Nov. 8 — the same day Donald Trump won the presidential election. Coincidence? We think not.
This seems to be a clear violation of the Emoluments Clause of the U.S. Constitution which states:
“No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”
The news broke shortly after it was discovered that Special Counsel Robert Mueller was expanding the Russia investigation to include obstruction of justice charges, as well as the full extent of Trump’s personal financial dealings. This is likely one of the things Robert Mueller is looking into – and it’s a serious one.
Now – Mueller has issued subpoenas of President Trump’s personal bank accounts, along with his phone records. Since it’s an official court order, refusal to comply can result in contempt of court charge, punishable by jail, a fine, or both.
The move is expected to put Trump’s personal finances under a microscope. So far, Trump has been the only president in recent history to refuse to divulge his tax returns. The expanding probe is likely to reveal a ton of dirt from the president’s financial past.
Shortly after this was announced, CNN reported that Mueller is also closely investigating Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner’s finances, in addition to other Trump associates.
Let the record show – it has already been verified by all 17 intelligence agencies that Russia did, indeed, hack the U.S. election. Trump refuses to acknowledge this fact even though his duties as president relies on their hard work and intel. Now we have an idea as to why.
The USIC is made up of 16 agencies, in addition to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. This is the statement they put out, virtually discrediting any idea that Russia had no involvement.
“The U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) is confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of e-mails from US persons and institutions, including from US political organizations. The recent disclosures of alleged hacked e-mails on sites like DCLeaks.com and WikiLeaks and by the Guccifer 2.0 online persona are consistent with the methods and motivations of Russian-directed efforts. These thefts and disclosures are intended to interfere with the US election process. Such activity is not new to Moscow—the Russians have used similar tactics and techniques across Europe and Eurasia, for example, to influence public opinion there. We believe, based on the scope and sensitivity of these efforts, that only Russia’s senior-most officials could have authorized these activities.”
